in The Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area with 20 years experience. I learned long ago that it’s not the company that sells your home it’s the agent. Years ago, before I became a Realtor, I needed to sell my property. So, I called the agent I bought it for and asked him to do an evaluation. He told me I should be able to get out of it without losing a dime. To make a long story short, 2 years went by and no offers. That means I had to make payments on a vacant property for 2 years and ended up selling it for $50,000 less than I paid for it.
I was so mad.
When I got into the Real Estate business I vowed to always tell the truth!
I could tell you so many stories about how doing small little things right caused a home to sell almost immediately you would be impressed. Like the time a lady called me to talk to her about selling her farm and I gave her the price and she didn’t believe me and listed with a big company that promised her lots of marketing. To make a long story short about 9 months later she called me again and asked me to visit her again. This time she simply said, “What price will it take to get me out of here”? I told her she listed and within a week we had it sold.
It’s a simple recipe, it goes like this, “If you price your home correctly and let the world know it’s for sale, it will sell”
Now, since this is absolutely true, the next question is
Why does a Realtor charge so much?
